Christmas in Manus

 In

David and the USS Hughes spend Christmas 1944 at Seeadler Harbor on Manus Island (in New Guinea).  The ship begins getting the repairs it needs in order to return to the war.  (Note: Photo is of personnel on the USS Lexington celebrating Christmas with make-shift decorations and a helmeted Santa Claus.  From the National Archives).

While in Manus, David files a claim to replace his wool blanket which was lost during the December 10th attack.  (see image)
